fibre

Fibreboard is basically a natural product – it really does `grow on trees!’ These are fast‐growing soft wood trees grown in a sustainable manner, much like any other crop.

A few facts about our raw materials:

The raw materials originate from 100% of managed forests which are FSC™-certified

Some 32 million seedlings are planted yearly - exceeding the use and contributing to growth of forested land use

61% of wood and fibre procured is FSC™- or PEFC™-certified

Over 1/2 Million Hectares (typically around 25%) of leased or owned forestry land used by the kraft fibre suppliers are set aside for conservation.

The use of Virgin Grades of Kraft Fibre has typically reduced from 55% in 1990 to a current level of 29% and the use of Recycled Materials has grown from 45% in 1990 to over 71% currently. However this must be kept in balance as there is a need to maintain demand to keep growing trees!

At the end of a useful life as a protective packaging material, the fibreboard drum is ultimately biodegradable, and compostable.

Kraft Fibre - a truly sustainable product!!
